Student Registration Process - To be completed by sponsoring Rotary Club
Once your Rotary Club has decided that they are going to participate in this year's
Camp Enterprise experience by sponsoring local students, we recommend the following action steps:
1. Reserve your space - Confirm with us that you will be sending one or two students by faxing your Club Registration (Form #1) to guarantee your space(s). (Fax number: 952-946-8716.)
2. Contact your local school - Set an appointment with the school principal or appointed counselor to explain Camp Enterprise and determine which students the school would like to send. Give the Principal the Teacher Announcement Form to pass on to the teachers. Remember - students of Rotarians are eligible to attend.
3. Develop a selection process - work with the school contact to develop a system to determine who the finalists are. An essay or simply the Camp Enterprise - Student Application (Form #2) can be used. If interest is high you may want to get creative. Select two alternates in case of an emergency drop-out.
4. Set your selection deadline - Make sure your student(s) are selected by Wednesday, October 15th 2008. Also make sure that they have committed to make the entire trip of Thursday, November 6th through Saturday, November 8th, 2008. We also recommend that the parents of the selected student(s) be contacted so that they are aware of the commitment.
5. Fax the Student Names form - We need to have the Student Names (Form #3) by no later than Friday October 17th, 2008 in order to properly schedule food and accommodations with Camp Courage. A member of the Camp Enterprise Marketing Team will be using the Student Names form to call your selected student(s) one week prior to the Camp.
6. Introduce students to Rotary - Invite the school contact, selected student and top alternates to a club meeting before they go to camp. This will give them a chance to meet their sponsors and understand a little about Rotary. Give them the Student Information Packet, Common Questions Form, and Outward Bound / Camp Courage Consent Forms.
7. Let the students know what you expect - Let them know that immediately following Camp Enterprise you will schedule them to give a short talk at a club meeting and give their impression of the "free enterprise system". It is helpful if they know this will be happening before they go so they can be thinking about it.
